DER.

October 21st, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

A couple’s Halloween costume must be subtle yet clear, daring yet elegant, personal yet universal, surprising yet somehow inevitable, which is why Mo and I are obviously going as ARYA STARK AND THE MANY FACED GOD FROM GAME OF THRONES.

What else are a toddler faced adult woman and a giant man with a huge heart yet uncanny ability to craft scary faces to go as?

IT WRITES ITSELF.

HUNTRESS GREEN.

October 20th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

I don’t want to talk about how long it just took me to get a picture of my nail polish that accurately reflected its hue, which is the exact color of a lady hunter out for the evening, fresh off a kill, or perhaps out to cut down her Christmas Tree, but let’s say it’s SOMEWHERE BETWEEN ONE AND FIVE MINUTES WHICH I HAVE TO SAY IS JUST TOO LONG.

These things happened!

October 19th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

Some images are better left undocumented, locked in the photo streams of our minds, resting there as legends, as myths, as moments that can only be described, but never quite captured or re-created — like basically every moment from this weekend’s wedding:  the couple’s first dance in the giant inflatable astronaut and penguin suits,  the confetti cannons / epic dance party, my manfriend in a sharp suit, a beautiful ceremony in which they swore to love each other ‘until they’re so old they can hide jelly beans in their wrinkles.’ Some moments are just better as legends, myths.

BUT ALSO HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF THESE AMAZING THINGS.

PLEASE NOTE.

If you put a gummy Python on your wedding registry I AM GOING TO GET IT FOR YOU.

And then I’m going to eat it WITH MY FACE.

Nother day / Nother Bro

October 17th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

Because all I ever do is go to family parties and dance and feel things, today is Morrison’s exceptional big brother John’s wedding day! I want 900 more brothers so that every day for three straight years can be one of their wedding days and I can weep Through my smile as they straighten each other’s vests and shake hands, so I can  spin and be spun for infinity.

Class.

October 16th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

If I’m being real: I’ve had pasta and gelato in Italy and Brie in France and Paella in Spain and Streudel in Austria and Scones with clotted cream in London and  Ramen at Momofuku and BBQ in Lexington and Bacon and cheese fries at Linda’s in Chapel Hill and other nice food stuffs at other refined food places.

AND YET.

Sometimes, and mostly all of the time, all I really want is a JIMMY DEAN. MICROWAVABLE BREAKFAST. SANDWICH.

THEN, NOW, AND FOREVER.

AMEN. (?)

Hey Elli: You’re Great.

October 15th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

Cousin Elli — who works in Child Protection for the FBI, so is an FBI agent? Yes? Is that how it works? —  texted last night with an apology for missing Pete’s wedding, and it was perhaps one of the most baller excuses I’ve seen.  She was, you know, rescuing children from an underground prostitution ring, like you do.

Never again will I say ‘sorry I was not at your thing, I tried to make it’ or ‘I needed a night in’ or ‘I had to get my romper hemmed’ or ‘I really needed to connect with my crockpot’ or ‘I didn’t want to go because I don’t really like you and I feel like our friendship is based upon mirrors and lies.’ ELLI WINS ALL OF THE EXCUSES FOR THE REST OF FOREVER. Thank you cousin for doing what you doooooo!

millennials

October 14th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

Hi, I am now officially old enough to be annoyed by those younger than me and pass judgement on them and pretend I’m happy to be older / wiser, while secretly also doing a lot of the things they do and also desperately wishing I could still eat bread and drink more than a glass of wine and not wake up with a headache. Hi! Overheard this morning while waiting for my eleven dollar coffee which I can totally afford because I’m old, dammit:

Young barista: Hey did you know that facetious is —

Other young barista (RAPIDLY INTERRUPTING): IS THE ONLY WORD WITH ALL OF THE VOWELS IN ORDER A-E-I-O-U.

Young barista: Yeah.

Beat.

Young Barista: I don’t know what facetious means.

Other young barista: Yeah, me neither.

joke shirt / dad shirt

October 12th, 2015 by Bekah Brunstetter

It would take me ten years to be bloggy of all of the amazing moments that happened this weekend, from golf-carting all over a whimsical island through hurricane puddles, to feeling a new sort of joy and tears the moment the violinist started Fur Elise as his bride entered the chapel and I saw my brother’s heart fold right open, to the mysterious Halls cough drop that fell out of my dress during the ceremony that I am 100% not sure how got there. But to highlight one of my many favorites:  my Mom got my Dad this shirt, just to terrify Morrison:

….and given that Morrison can get super down with dad jokes, FUN WAS HAD BY BOTH.
