Oh, guess who just rode her bike from downtown to Venice and back for earth day? It was me. And also, that incredibly bored looking baby.

At a first glance

April 20th, 2013 by Bekah Brunstetter

I saw from gunfire to roaring applesauce.

In other news, the balding man behind the paper is explaining to his friend what Facebook is, and then I stabbed out my ears with a spoon.

I really enjoy this poster art for The Old Globe’s my Be a Good Little Widow, or: Why I will never die in a plane crash. It’s so simple, understated and perfect, I’ll probably REALLY never die in one. Can’t wait to see the show in May. I’ve turned the trip to San Diego into a  beach trip with Mack, which will  include a night in a swanky hotel,  contrband, gummy worms, mistakes, and Taylor Swift. There will also be a talk back.

Dear Everything: Stop Exploding

April 18th, 2013 by Bekah Brunstetter

Prayers for West, Texas, too.

“It, like, picked you up,” a woman told CNN affiliate WFAA. “It just took your breath away. And then it dropped you and it exploded everything around you. … It was like a suction, and then it just blew it all out. You could feel everything. You could feel it on your skin, your hair was being blown. It was crazy.”

She managed to cover one of her children, she said, and “grabbed my little one and dove through a door. It was chaos. All my windows blew out, my doors off the hinges. All I had were my keys in my hand, and I just threw the dog, everybody, in the car, and we took off.”

Roberta Pt. 2

April 17th, 2013 by Bekah Brunstetter

I just bought this gal from a nice Israeli man in a parking lot, for giant bike day ride from downtown to beach Sunday. She’s a beautiful vintage Schwinn. But!  I was dumb and didn’t test her on hills. She’s good on flat road but on any incline or decrease, which I guess is to say, hill, she’s creaky and stiff. Now I have to get her fixed. I officially need to stop doing things in parking lots that are not parking.

Something has changed within me

Something is not the same

That which we call a Rose

April 14th, 2013 by Bekah Brunstetter

Cute Boy enters party from stage left.

Me: Hi, I’m Bekah. Welcome to my roof.

Cute Boy: Hi, I’m Augie.

Me: No you’re not.

Cute Boy: What?

Me: No it’s not.

Cute Boy: Um….?

(A moment in which I simultaneously consider monologuing, kissing him spontaneously or throwing myself off said roof.)

Me:…It’s a great name.

Cute Boy: Thanks! Is there beer, or –?

Me: Downstairs.

Cute Boy exits through the door through which he came.
