It’s been a MAGNIFICENT Easter Sunday, and it’s not even done. Family skype session, Fresh flowers gifts, perspective and easter egg hunt at church (yes I DID let the children win), Mack Yeager and unlimited Shrimp Cocktail in South Pasadena, a 2 month old named Penny Fay in a giant purple hat, a RABBIT ICE SCULPTURE, and now, a beer chicken barbecue.
This is one of those ‘life is so great’ posts to compensate for all of the gloom as of late. Today is totally pastel, and totally great.

Let’s not focus on how half of them are a little burnt, but instead on how they are SHOVED FULL OF BUTTER AND SUGAR, AND COVERED IN FESTIVE SPRING COLORED SPRINKLES.

I get to write from home today, and I just realized: I love my house, so much, and all of the inexplicable neon flowers growing out of it. I love the view from it and its big weird floors and the people who live inside of it with me. THANKS, HOUSE!

Today, my TINY LITTLE BABY BROTHER TIM graduates from Basic School, a Six Month Program all Marine Officers have to go through, which I just copied directly from a text from my Dad, in response to my text, I wrote down Tim graduation today. What is he graduating from? I then called him.
TIM: Thanks sister.
ME: What’s happening? What are you now?
TIM: I’m a lieutenant.
ME: What were you before?
TIM: ….I was a lieutenant. I’m still a lieutenant.
ME: So but, what happened?
TIM: Basic training.
ME: ……Okay. So but, why?
TIM: Basic training for all commissioned officers.
ME: But you already were an officer? I don’t get it.
TIM: You don’t have to. Fortunately, that’s not your job.
ME: I’m going to go write for television now.

I got myself these shiny, sassy heel things for Cott’s rehearsal dinner, and last night I was teetering around my room practice-wearing them in my PJ’s, and then it amused me that I was wearing gross PJ’s and heels, then I decided to take a picture of it, and yes this IS a cry for help.

My fellow New School alum Jennie sent me this picture of her son, Jasper, reading a book that I gave her first kid, Lilly, as a YAY YOU WERE BORN gift years ago. He’s basically the most pensive, adorable nugget product of his Hot Jewish Mom and Hot Chinese Dad. Jennie’s raising her family, but wishes she was out here writing for TV, and I’m writing for TV but kind of wishing I had a nugget product, or was at least making steps towards that. And so, we vicarious each other, which I strongly believe should also be a verb.

More like WALKyon Canyon. AMIRIGHTLADIES?
This place is great. I finally went today after hearing about it a lot since I first moved here. So basically, it’s a bunch of incredibly happy people either leisurely strolling through the hills and paths, or SUPER INTENSELY RUNNING UP THEM. Most of them have equally happy dogs who are more than stoked to be off their leashes. Highlights included finding the Other Girl who’s on her Own having a Solitary Introspective Hike, but Also really needs a picture of it so she can put it on Facebook, and taking pictures for each other, and weirdly high fiving each other after,
And gazing down at the this, wondering which house belongs to which C list celebrity.

I woke up this morning with a VIOLENT need to go out to breakfast. Like, bad. But then I realized, I didn’t have anyone to have breakfast with. No one to You get the Pancakes I’ll get the Benedict and we’ll both have the world, with. I mean, I have people with which I could like, schedule a breakfast, but I don’t have anyone that I can call from bed and mumble something incoherently about waffles and then we meet at The Place. This made me sad, which I figured was a bad way to start the day, so instead, I changed it to: I GET TO HAVE BREAKFAST BY MYSELF! And then I did, sat at the Diner bar conveniently close to the pecan pie, and I didn’t have to talk to anyone except Myself, and I read the entire Saturday Times, even the depressing and confusing parts, which I did not have to share. Myself somehow managed to spend 27 dollars. But then Myself fronted the bill, which wasn’t weird or presumptuous at all, but kind of romantic.

I got you these really cute Gingham shorts! But is it cool if I borrow them for a while, and for always? YOU’RE WELCOME!
