Most everyone in LA seems to have this fantastic ritual of seeing every movie ever each weekend. Since the weather is consistently lovely, there’s really no point in forcing oneself to spend the weekend outdoors. I’d really love to tell you more about this social observation, but I am late for ARGO AND MAYBE NINE OTHER MOVIES.

Eye’m not sure.

The other day, this dude gave me his business card and an elevator pitch. For 30 bucks, he’ll take a picture of your eyeball. He’ll even frame it for you. He even does whole family’s eyes, boyfriends and girlfriends eyes, pet eyes, and then you can hang them on the wall next each other, and then, well, you will have a wall of giant eyes. (?).

Yogurt while Driving

November 8th, 2012 by Bekah Brunstetter

I’m really into this new Yoplait Greek yogurt, and have just this morning figured out how to eat it will driving. It requires only mild amounts of flexibility and concentration. And so, It will basically be tomorrow that I wake up looking like this.

She’s curiously shocked to have that ball in her hand.

It blows my mind how divided we are right now. I have to and want to believe that everyone has the best of intentions for this country. Stopping just short of lighting some incense and braiding each other’s hair, can’t we all just try and get along?

Anonymous Hug wall image provided by the esteemed Augie Praley. I just like it, and think we should all do more anonymous hugging, just in general.

My co-worker snagged me a coveted sticker which you don’t get if you vote absentee, so now I feel totally legit. I’m also sporting Red White and Blue. I myself am the White part. Special thoughts today in particular for Dad who’s up for re-election, though apparently, the guy running against him already sort of awkwardly apologized for doing so, so chances are, he will win, and I will continue my reign as Princess of Forsyth County, which I promise you, means basically nothing. Also, it is already five out of seven days that I usually dress like a flag.

Hi, meet one of my favorite things in the world. Soft, fuzzy, hotel blankets to wrap oneself in, to spill salsa upon, to absent mindedly chew on, to bury oneself under. Thousands and thousands of folks out east are still without power, and it’s freezing. The kind of cold I can’t help but be jealous of, the kind that should prompt pumpkin spice lattes, but not so much if you don’t have heat to go home to. Genius Amazon has started a registry for victims, through which I just shipped a bunch of blankets. Instead of feeling bad that you can’t buy your soon to be married buddy  the $1200 wine fridge which no human should have,  with this registry, you can actually give folks things they need. Click upon it!

There is a disturbing new Tecate lurking in your bodega.  It features lime and savory ‘pepper spices.’  It’s basically like re-drinking beer you have just puked after eating 12 too many tacos. It’s horrible, and kind of good in that I’m going to rub my bee sting into sand until my skin comes off kind of way.

PS, I have acquired the new iphone. It’s light, lovely, and texts the things I talk to it, and tells me where to drive.  It has yet to make me an omelette, clean my room or explain to me what is REALLY going on in Israel, but so far, it’s pretty great. Mostly, I just like to hold it against my face.

See post-Sandy Staten Island, where the NYC marathon begins, near the Verrazano Bridge –  which, it’s just been announced, is still on.

If you’re curious, I’m not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it makes a certain sense: re-establishing the city’s normalcy, pride, functionality after a disaster. But that makes more sense if it had been an act of terrorism, like, take THAT, terrorists! We will force ourselves to run 26 miles ANYWAYS! You cannot deter us from doing the strange and optimistic things we usually do. But this was a natural disaster. Who is it exactly that we were sticking it to? Take THAT, the planet! You cannot stop us from doing our human things? (Technically, it can.)

So much of BK and NYC are relatively unscathed – it seems like people are neglecting the extent of the devastation. It’s like last year’s Irene: after it came and went, with little to no damage to our city, we joked and called it Borene and drank Hurricanes, for sport. Meanwhile, large parts of Vermont and upstate New York got completely nailed. Point being: we need to focus on the big picture.

– Paid for by the Brunstetter for NYC’s most ineffectual Mayor Ever, yet the first Mayor with Bangs, 2016.
