The Stella Sisters

November 20th, 2012 by Bekah Brunstetter

So I really can’t stop watching ABC’s new show Nashville, one of the reasons being the Stella sisters, adorably pictured here. I’m taking to my blog with this because if I tell Augie or facebook one more time how much I love them, this really might end in divorce. First and foremost, their names are Lennon and Maisy. Just – stop. They are  adorable and sing in raw, beautiful harmony, which I’m a total sucker for. They make me want to go back in time and force myself to pick up the guitar or stick with those weird singing lessons that I signed up for at church for my big Oklahoma audition. (If you’re curious: it ain’t so much a question of not knowin’ what to do. I’ve known what’s right and wrong since I’ve been ten.) And If not go back in time, then to move forward in it, procreate, have mostly daughters, and train them to do this exact  thing.

I love cold weather running and how it always turns into some sort of epic mission involving a search for stolen documents or jewels or other things that stealthy running ninjas do.

If you’re curious, here are the other three:

Looks like I’m off on script, so I might extend my NYC trip a few days! AUTUMN IN NEW YORK.

Note to future self, when travelling, always bring extra underwears / contacts / dresses in case plans change, which I definitely did not do, so it’s time to get creative, and find this discount bin.

The Thing I Do for a Dime

November 17th, 2012 by Bekah Brunstetter

Ladies and Gentlemen, The magnificent Sarah Stephens and Tommy Crawford! See, I create characters in my mind and give them things to say. Then actual humans inhabit them, enliven them, and other humans dress them accordingly. At some point when it’s all said and done, we take pictures together. I am usually wearing polka dots when this happens.

I’m not sure if it was the fruit snacks, the cuddly newlyweds next to me, the fact that I had tons of work to do, the new kind of Xanax from the scary Russian doctor, or a notable lack of turbulence, but last night, I flew from LA to NYC which virtually no panic, whatsoever. It just might be that I’m outgrowing the worry, or at least have managed to realize that freaking out every time I’m airborne is a incredible waste of energy and backsweat. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go knock on every wood surface in sight.

How to Know you’re Special

It’s basically when your Someone Special sets a phone alert for your impending arrival. And here is also a page of someone’s screenplay.

Yeah….I’m Done.

November 14th, 2012 by Bekah Brunstetter

I’ve got a play with indoor train tracks in a beautiful Brooklyn loft! The only thing to make this situation even MORE perfecter would be if I got to, say, fly back to BK and see it and spend a few Fall and Sweatered days with wine and friends. OH WAIT, I GET THAT. Please direct me to the hook upon which I will hang my hat.

Put your baby on me! I’m not creepy and I won’t drop it, I PROMISE.

Brought to you in part by a creepy Rite Aide in Koreatown.

Also in part by my phone, and my longing for adventure, mostly in the parking lots of dilapidated drugstores.

Be not deceived: LA gets COLD. It’s not all sunshine and kale chips.  Sniffles still set in,  socks to bed are necessary, and you still wake up with a seasonal snot bomb living in crucial parts of your face. Pretty much the only thing keep me going this AM is that I get to drink mint tea of this owl, all day.

Thanks to new friend and fellow NC native, Reuben, a good man and ALSO sandwich, last night I patroned this incredible pop up dinner party, where you dine inside of a metal shop. I could eloquently tell you why it was so great, in sentences, but instead, I’ll just clunkily list the main reasons why.

Pistachio and Rhubarb Cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Rosemary bread.

Homemade baba ghanoush.

Edison lightbulbs.

Proximity to power tools.
