spontaneous street map party!!!!!

August 22nd, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

Lily is researching a film for Emma Thompson, and showed us some of her work (complicated, impressive, involving maps and dots marking sites of suicides of literary figures in the UK) nearly in the middle of 51st street, where research sharings usually take place. Only in New York you guys. And maybe parts of London too.

(old) cars

August 21st, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

Today under the BQE there is an old car parade show competition thing! Very exciting.  I was running through and had to pause for a couple to pass. They looked at me like I was insane for this ‘running’ and my time would be much better spent sitting inside of an old car and making it ‘Vroom.’ (Seriously though, some of them where really amazing – straight out of the 50s (or: Back to the Futures 1 and 2), exposed engines, funny pet names airbrushed across the hood, and funnier owners. There were also Tshirts, and portapotties.)

Bekah the Builder

August 21st, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

Last night, I built this. Or rather, assembled. It’s a modern playhouse gifted to me by Kerry for the opening of House of  Home (get it??? Get it???) It sadly kind of took me a while, but I did it. Clearly I have many gifts. Please notice the irony of the indoor grass, and the carefully selected angles. Yes, I will pretty much have my own reality show in which I assemble and arrange tiny houses by Tommorrow.

The Best thing in the World

August 20th, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

Steve loves bears. And so, for his birthday, his co-workers hired a giant bear to come and sing happy birthday to him. Steve: terrified. Adorable: so much it hurts. Degree of wishing I was there? 700. The best thing. In. The world.

xo?

August 20th, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

Lily always signs her emails and texts  ‘X’ or ‘xxx’ or ‘xo’ which I’ve always enjoyed, because I just like the constant reminder that she is cute and from London.  I’ve never been one who’s much for x’s and o’s in terms of sign offs. But now I’ve just finished reading the novel from the UK that’s all emails (obsessed – more to come on that front) and it was basically 500 pages of x’s and o’s – some genuine, some passive aggressive -and also fun things like people being ‘cows’ and ‘gits’ and ‘having each other on’ and ‘having a laugh’ – and now said x’s and o’s are suddenly pouring out of my fingers, like this is now the way I am supposed to express myself, or always have.  Or like I’m trying it on like a hat. xo? xxxxxxx. X.

Luck

August 19th, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

I have the best friends. Last night Kerry and Tibi had me over to their Ikea fairytale land perfect apartment for Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon, Banana pudding and five years of wine. It was a post mort for House of Home KIND OF, but mainly an excuse to eat. And THEN, we watched MONSTER INSIDE ME, a terrifyingly predictable show about people who think they are dying – but wait – no – they just have a parasite. OR: A MONSTER INSIDE THEM. This did not go SO well with pudding, but was muchly informative. You guys, did you know you can get a parasite from your dog? From walking barefoot in the grass? Did you also know that Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon is delicious? You learn somethings new, every day.
