WARNING: DO NOT EVER GOOGLE WEIRD PIERCINGS. I am nauseous now. I did not want to see babies with septum rings, or people sticking wine glasses / scissors through their tongues, or people who have turned their tongues into zippers.

I was just going to reminisc-y about my once-piercings. Yes, I was quite cool. At one point, back in the day, I had a nose ring, belly button ring, tongue ring, and some sweet gauges in my ears. In fact, my friends and I would share gauges to stretch our ear-holes out.

For the most part, I’m pretty stoked that I was able to outgrow this phase – though I must say, parents, I went through it with elegance; grace. It could have been a lot worse. But I do, from time to time, miss having them, in a nostalgic, look at me I have things stuck in my face sort of way. Especially the nose ring, which I still think is the cutest thing ever, though painfully inappropriate for young ladies approaching 30.

Or is it? Hmm. Okay, now I go disinfect a safety pin.

Of the many fine activities to partake in in NYC, one can also enjoy sports! We went to see the Knicks take on Oklahoma at Madison Square Garden. It was a tense, close game involving waffle fries, some guido’s, some child dancers, a marriage proposal on the big screen, oh, and also some sports. Sadly, the Knicks lost in overtime. Thankfully, to lift our spirits, Sarah did some train acrobatics on the way home.

In Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where Steve abodes, one will find a little Poland. In this place, cabbages are stuffed with meat, meat is stuffed with meat, and vegetables are canned but weirdly good; Pierogi are stuffed with cheese / potatoes / kraut, beers are giant. Do not worry about eating for the next 3-5 days.

My company pays for part of my cell phone bill each month, which is great. Downfall: I have to have a slightly lame corporate-y voicemail message, which tends to leave people very confused about who and why they are calling.

But usually, as I mainly know funny and smart people, the caller is quick to play along and request a corporate apartment. I’ve had dozens of messages, monologues even!  whole characters created! in which the caller pretends to be a pretentious british businessman, a confused Indian traveller, a child, a more businessy version of their own selves, etc. Um, maybe you should call me right now and try it, because it is fun.

February 18th, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

Hello again! Would you like to look at some things? Well, you have come to the right place. Here are some selected pretty pictures from my recent bay area travels. It was sad to come back to Cold today, but at least I have these pictures to gaze at / sniff.

I took what the call a ‘red-eye’ in from LA. I did not sleep a wink unless you call smushing your face against a coat-blanket while entertaining a slew of plane-crash scenarios while ALSO watching the food network guy eat roast beef sandwiches, sleep. There was also vicodin involved. I made it back and slept for a few hours but now must away, and I am just extremely confused. I knew I had to blog or something, but it took me about 30 minutes to remember where my fingers are, and also what the ‘internet’ is. In other, lighter news, my mom sent me cookies, and so I ate them.

Tell me: is there any larger sign of adulthood than flying to LA, getting to your rental car, and driving to some place you’ve never been before for a meeting with some people you’ve never met?? There is not. Unless of course, you select an electric blue PT Cruiser, more the choice of a toddler (the large kind, the kind that drives. Me. )

But I must say, I felt pretty awesome today managing to do all of those things ALL BY MYSELF. I can also read, write and go potty. And write plays. Sometimes.

I wish I could go back to college

February 15th, 2010 by Bekah Brunstetter

UC Berkeley has an insanely beautiful campus which I explor-ed this morning. It made me extremely nostalgic and think, I wanna go to college!!! But then I remembered, I already did. And also, I already went to grad school too. So unless I wake up one day and decide to pursue phyiscal therapy / neuroscience / theology, my college days are pretty much over. Sad.

In the words the time-honored puppet musical, Avenue Q, I wish I could go back to college, I don’t know who I am anymore. I wish I had taken more pictures. But -if I were to go back to college, just think what a loser I’d be. I’d walk through the quad, and think – Oh my God! These kids are so much younger than me!’
