I hearby declare that despite my fairly frequent and childish whinings, I am extremely grateful for my job. I think it’s important for everyone, at some point, for at least a minute, be a part of the machine that is a large corporation – and find a little home in one of its pockets – learning how to use one words, mastering the art of the passive aggressive email; the fine art of multi-tasking. Though I may let my hair go greasier than I should, and don’t sleep or write or have fun nearly enough, I am working for some greater good I think, or least the good that is the determination and humility it takes to buckle down and complete the task at hand, whatever it is.  AND I get to go to the dentist and if I get the swine flu, well, that’s totally fine too, because I have sick days.  BAM!

More to Love

June 18th, 2009 by Bekah Brunstetter

(Ahhh!! Why, this ad? Why??)

Anyways. Have you read about this yet?Fox has a new reality show modeled off of the Bachelor, featuring a plus-size bachelor and plus-size bachelorettes – or, in other words, normal. It’s rather appropriately called More to Love, and I applaud It, and I can’t wait to see it.

a day’s worth of thoughts

June 16th, 2009 by Bekah Brunstetter

1. I am sick, and I hate it. I have weird chills and sore throatness and tiredness, a lot. Hopefully not a belated gift of swine flu from Mexico.

2. I really love the role that Twitter is playing in Tehran right now, in terms of getting info out, and the fact that the US had Twitter postpone maintenance on the site to keep the flow of info going. Vive la technology!

3. Never under-estimate the healing powers of a good cup of tea, hot soggy Ramen, or baby snickers bars.

4. Do not peel your sunburn at work. You will come to five hours later and wonder where the day went.

5. If you are sick AND the boyfriend is sick, you create a wall of whine that pings your own whine back to you. Instead, call Mom.

I have officially birthed the title for my next play. Not even knowing I was With Title, it came to me quietly and randomly while in spin class (see prom night dumpster baby.) I am so proud of it. It’s cute and cuddly and happy and slightly terrifying, and I can’t wait to begin our lives together.

Also, now obsessed with Mark Ryden paintings, as seen above. I esp. reccomend ‘The Meat Show.’ A great way to spend the next 10 minutes of your life!

photo-307.jpgSteve has fulfilled yet another one of my unrequited needs! I have secretly (and, as of late, not so secretly) wanted Ray Bans like REAL BAD. Sure, I’ve been sporting fake ones for years, but it so not the same. Yes, I have succumbed to Label wantiness. Steve got matching White ones, and we will make other couples weep with envy as we brunch. NICE!
