I’m writing the script for the 2010 NYIT awards ceremony….and you guys, it’s HARD! But an interesting challenge. Basically I’m just writing the words out of the presenters’ mouths before they announce the nominees and winners. When I first started thinking about it, I was like, wait, so I am going to write things in my own voice, and then other human beings who are NOT me are going to say the words?? How is this going to work?? And then I was like: oh wait. Bekah, that’s pretty much playwriting. Duh. As I work through the categories I suddenly feel like I know nothing about theater, words, or people, but blast it, I’m trying. Why, I even have a joke: the moment you set out to write ‘a hit!’ is the first nail in your IsherWood coffin. See what I did there?

My new phone arrived today! It is shiny and perfect and full of possibility. Do I pretty much need Steve to do things to it to make it work? Yes. Am I already worried I’m going to break it? Yep. Is there a chance I might cuddle it tonight? Absolutely.

Also will maybe build a tree / lakehouse here.

I’m back in business! After last summer’s untimely kidnappings of both Tony AND Roberta, I was bike-less for a bit. Well, I had this guy (given to Steve by a friend?) but it pretty much stayed in the basement with flat tires, collecting dust. Today, I got it all fixed up. Pedestrians: watch your back!

‘Alright let me ask you this, tell me if you think this is creative. When I was five, I imagined that there was such a thing as a unicorn. And this was before I had even heard of one, or seen one. I just drew a picture, of a horse, that could fly over rainbows, and a had a huge spike in its head. I was five! Five-years-old.

Couldn’t even talk yet.’

I was dreaming last night about something really boring and bland like doing dishes and I woke up mid dream and thought to myself, my head is full of white bread. I wish it was full of jambalaya.  Or at least a multi-grain roll.

Then I went back to sleep.

See sister Carrie, and her lovely boyfriend Simon! I love him. Yes, I also like this ‘Carrie’ person, but Simon, though something like 15 years older than me? has always been loving and kind and wise and always knows exactly what I’m talking about / what I need. Like last night:

SIMON: Let’s get curry!!!

ME: Aw man, I already had dinner!

SIMON:……CURRY!!!!

ME: No seriously it’s okay, I already ate, I’m trying not to spend money -

SIMON: I AM BUYING YOU CURRY. EAT THIS CURRY RIGHT NOW.

ME: No tha- okay fine.

(And then I eat the best curry of my life, ever.)

I’m lucky to know him, and thankful for his knowledge, his being good to Carrie all the time, and his pinky ring which means something important in England.
